Based on the talent on the Rebels roster their is no reason that they should be ranked to finish 9th in the SEC this season but there are just so many questions surrounding the Rebels this year. First, this offseason has not been kinds to the Rebels with multiple players getting in trouble off the field. Cornerback Bobby Hill is off the team, defensive end Channing Ward was charged with DUI, Sedarius Bryant was also arrested and Denzel and Robert Nkiemdiche are facing a two million dollar civil suit. Obviously, who knows whether or not the Nkiemdiche's did what the Plaintiff in the civil suit has alleged but nnevertheless it is a distraction.
On the field the Rebels have a ton of talent. On the field they have several players who are more than capable of making it as 1st Team ALL-SEC including Tony Conner, Robert Nkiemdiche, Laremy Tunsil and WR Laquon Treadwell. You can't also forget about Bo Wallace who has been a serviceable quarterback that has a bunch of experience but the real impact could come from redshirt freshmen DeVante Kincade. According to all reports Kincade had a great spring practice and he is a scary accurate passer with the ability to make a lot of plays with his legs. It would not shock me to see Kincade put a lot of pressure on Wallace this fall.
The Rebels are a team that potentially has a very high ceiling because of some of their superstar talent, but they also have quite a few liabilities and I don't know that this team has the maturity and discipline to handle the adversity that they are going to face over the course of a brutal SEC season. If they grow up, mature and stay out of trouble this offseason they are a team that could quickly rise up the power rankings before the start of the 2014 season.
